45 DCOE's from 3 to 5 progressions - Help
sooty - 7/5/14 at 11:30 AM

Found that my 45's are 3 hole progressions where they are fitted to 2.1 Zetec, been told I should use the 5 hole progressions.

Seen at some sites that some drill their own progressions for either 4 or 5 hole depending what they are fitted to.

Anyone know of any details of the positioning and sizes of the new holes for a Zetec etc. or where I can find them.

Reason, mine is popping in exhaust at the point of change from fast running to top range

Thanks.

Drill them yourself and you will probably wreck your carbs. You need a jig, Weber used to offer the service as did other specialists.

My Zetec (standard 2 litre with FZ2002 cams) ran on 45's (36mm chokes) with 3 holes for several years. When I first fitted it I planned to get the holes drilled whilst the carbs were off but the specialist (who had a jig) said to try them first and then make a decision. After he had set the car up it ran perfectly fine on 3 holes. No need to spend any money.

It depends to some extent on who sets the car up and how competent they are. If you have 5 holes and use a total numptie (there are loads about) it will not run well. Use an experienced tuner who knows Webers and it will probably be fine with 3 holes.
