HD Type 9 with long 1st
neilp1 - 5/12/15 at 04:27 PM

I'm going to re-build a duratec in the next month or so and I'd like a HD type 9 with a long 1st whilst I'm on.

Where is the best place to buy one as I've looked at bgh geartech and also first motion who advertise on ebay. Anyone have any feedback on these 2 and are there anymore. I know there's Quaife but they're too expensive.

Have a look at spc, they do a bix with tracsport helical gears that the promote as being for duratec engines.

I've got this gearbox, did it on an exchange with mine. It's beautiful.

I collected it from SPC and spent some time in their workshop. Great guys.

BGH Geartech gets my vote... They know this gearbox inside out!

If you decide to use a firm other than BGH Geartech ask if they do oil modifications
BGH Geartech modify the gear oil feeds and the casing.

One of the best mods on my car was fitting the BGH box

Ditto on BGH. I had my own gearbox modded with the uprated bearings and my duratec mgb gets driven very hard. That was 3 years ago and I've not touched the gearbox since.

Fitting a BGH was the best mod I ever did to mine although I have heard very good things about SPC aswell
