Rolling Roads in Hampshire/Dorset
ttalps2000 - 23/10/17 at 08:44 AM

Can anyone recommend a rolling road Hampshire or Dorset areas that know how to tube webers and are willing to tune/map Megajolt?

I am based in Southampton, so nearer to me the better!

Thanks

Hello,

I've used a rolling road near Winchester before with very good results. The owner/operator has been at it for many years and tuned a Weber carb very well for me. Let me know if it's of interest and I can share the details with you.

I've used Tom a few times.....Really, really knows carbs.

Tom Airey

Look at that - two recommendations for the same one!

I have been thinking of Airey tuning, but he does state he will not touch injection etc, so assuming he will not be interested in the Megajolt side of things. Will give him a call.

Give him a call first - he's very straightforward and will certainly tell you if he can do what you're looking for.

As long as you have your lap top with the MJ software on it and it's all working, Tom can probably do something with it.

If you decide to go to Tom it can be tricky to find - you're welcome to U2U me for help with directions.

I've used Tom Airey at least 4 times over the last 10 years I reckon. Very good with carbs but be aware he drills jets. Nowt wrong with that but it means the identification by others after he's done his thing is near impossible unless you get him to write down what he's done. He'll deal with an ignition map if you can drive the software alongside him. He'll shout instructions "up a degree, down a degree .." which is fun when on the rollers at speed ..

Airey can also be rather expensive, but he is very good.

I have also used Ray West .. http://www.west-tuning.com/ .. He's at Thruxton circuit and deals with all the touring cars when they roll up to race. He did my Striker when Airey wasn't available and did a great job, and he can use your software as he's used to just about every system that's out there.

Ray is a little on the expensive side, but is also very good.

Cheers !!

thank you for all the suggestions. Looks like Airey Tuning is at the top of the list then!

I'd be interested to know your experience as I have a weber 500 and megajolt and I've not had much luck finding people who will work with that combination.

Cheers,
Dan

I have previously used Slark racing who know webers and megajolt very well. However, they have now moved to Bristol from Salisbury, so not local ish any longer!

JKM are worth a call
They are in Portsmouth and a good bunch
I know they have worked on a megasquirted 7 and got good results (Chippys car)
Whether they want to go near megasquirt again I do not know

Not sure if they "do" carbs though, I would suspect not

JKM appear to be the usual fuel injection re-mapping only outfit!

Spoken to Airey Tuning and he wont touch anything that needs a laptop, so that's that out!

Back to Slark Racing in Bristol by the looks of it!
