Westfield with MX-5 Engine - sump cracked

Guys

I need to get a replacement sump for my MX-5 based Westfield ( i didn't build it).... do i needed a cut / reshaped sump or a standard sump?

Either will fit, but shortened one is most likely on there now. Take a look under your car! Depending on how bad, may be easier to get it welded up.

Where would i get that done.... a local garage?

Is it a 1.6 or 1.8 engine?

If it's a 1.6 you can get similar ground clearance by fitting the taller Rs2000 engine mounts, these are 52mm high compared to the standard 38mm mounts. As the engine is shorter than the 1.8 there's plenty of clearance under the bonet to raise the height of the engine so you don't have to chop the sump. Check the clearance between the os engine mount and the steering column though as you may need to adjust the position of the bracket that supports the lower steering column.

You could also do the same with a 1.8 if you have the V8 bonnet.
