Blacktop 1.8 head on 2.0 block

Hi All,

I've been Google searching the answer, I have replaced the standard 2.0 blacktop engine in my race car, but have also accuired a 1.8 blacktop engine with fast road cams (160hp) from a GT5 ginetta.

I am wanting to put the 1.8 head with the cams onto my 2.0 block which I have read will work and increases compression...but have read mixed reviews on the results. or would I be better just swapping the cams over and will they work in the 2.0 head? I think they should work as an improvement on standard blacktop cams. But will I need head modifications lifters shimming etc

If you could let me know you thougths it would be much appreciated

Regards Jon

One of the key things to measure is the chamber volume of both heads.
2.0L is reported to be around 48cc similar to a 2.0L Pinto
1.8L is reported to be around 45cc and would push your compression ratio too high so some mitigation to prevent detonation would be required.
There may be differences in cam belt geometry that should be looked at.

Swapping the cams will definitely need the cam followers to be shimmed without doubt!
