C20XE Distributor Oil Leak
mcg - 3/7/20 at 10:31 PM

Hi- I have a track day on Tuesday and so gave the car a bit of a run today to then notice a leak coming from the point highlighted in the picture.

Can anyone help me understand what fix options I have available to me?

- Is there a gasket or O ring that I need to replace? If so, can you point me in the right direction?
- Can I use a silicone gasket maker in there to seal as a temporary fix if I am not able to get the parts in time?
- Should I try tightening the bolts as a first stop?

Any help would be really appreciated!!!

Cheers

Matt

There's an o-ring in a groove in the casing of the distributor that is usually the cause, it seals on the bore within the head, so doesn't rely on the bolt tightness.

It may not be available from vauxhall any more, here's one on ebay, with a part no in the listing.

A quick and dirty would be silicone sealer on the flat face, if you get it clean enough it should work.

Fantastic. Thank you. Managed to get one from Vauxhall. Really appreciate the input.

If the oil ring doesn’t cure it check the crank case breather

Put a little bit of oil on it to aid fitting, Their easily damaged during assembly
