Im posting this as a warning so no-one else has same experience.

Im using Pinto with 38DGAS. Ive fitted facet red top (cos i had one) with regulator. Even with reg turned down i had a lot of fuel in carb body. I managed to ignite it trying to start engine at weekend. Quite scary. Of course problem is exaggerated cos i havent got timing set up properley yet. After i only ran the pump for short period of time the engine started OK (obviously stopped when fuel was used up in the line). It seems that the reg and floats cant cope with the huge amounts of pressure created. Im going to replace it with a mechanical pump and expect a full solution. I can then get engine up to temp and set up timing with strobe.

Is that pump intended for fuel injection perhaps?

What pressure is reaching the carb? I would say you want about 2.5 psi...

When I set my regulator up, if I wound the adjuster right out, I could virtually stop the flow of fuel, the pressure was that weak.

Are you sure there isn't a fault with the carb? Float needle can stick, especially is the carb has been stood for a long time with fuel in it. Or the needle/jet may be worn, the float may have a puncture, or the float may be adjusted incorrectly.

Just some things to check, before spending hard earned cash/time on something that might not be the problem - or indeed, the cure...
