It's amazing I'd never heard of this till it was posted here.
I'm all for him, but I'm betting he won't last long.
If there's no punishment then why not do the time? For many of these guys in prison, prison life is better than life on the dole outside of
prison.
They're in with their buddies, they don't have to worry about clothes, work, food, TV or anything. As others have said, until prison life
is an actual punishment and is worse than living out in the "free" world then it's not really accomplishing much.
Outside they have to worry about the cable, power, water & food being cut off for non-payment.
I'm not a great rehabilitation fan, because I don't see that it will work on most - or at least by the time they've gotten to prison
vs. the local jails. I grew up with many of the guys who are in prison and it's a mindset and they way they've been brought up. They
have no intention of ever going straight, it's simply not how they think. They have been brought up learning how to work the system.
