diff type please help!!
Hi all
i have a bit of a problem with my diff, as im unsure as to wether its an LSD or not!!
I know this has been asked before but i need to make sure if it is or not as its currently advertised for sale as an LSD!!
i have been told that its not an LSD as it has push in driveshafts is this a definitive way of knowing or are there lsd diff with push in
driveshafts??
Please can someone help, Thanks
Greg

Sierra?? Do you know what model it's off and what ratio it is??
But basically if it has push in shafts then I'm 99% sure it's not LSD.

LSD's have bolt on driveshafts so looks like you have an open diff.

easy
turn one of the drive shafts and see if the other one turns the same way, if it does then LSD, if it turns the other way then not

right ok just done a test when i turn one of the driveshafts the other does not turn at all so im assuming its an open diff, is this right?
also if it is an open diff are these worth less than lsd's?
Thanks again

Not wrong - just over simplified, and unless you know exactly what you're doing with this test, various factors can come into play making the
results unreliable or misleading!
Almost certainly not a standard LSD unless somebody has removed the flanges for some reason. Very slim chance it could have an aftermarket LSD fitted
- eg Quaife. Easiest way to be 100% certain is pop the rear cover off, take a photo of what's inside and post it here.
