turner auto design lmp, spire gtr and t5 mission help!

hi everyone,

im a newbie to this site, and basically planning to start a build in the new year. After lots of thoughts, ive narrowed my choices down to 3 kits, with 1 in particular.

Ive always been a radical/westfield midi/full body fan so my options are quite small. First i found the spire gtr, then the t5 mission and last of all the turner lmp(which is my favourite at the min)

Anyway i keep leaning more towards the lmp mainly due to the looks and price seems to be very reasonable.

Ive been in touch with steven turner and seems a very nice chap, spoke to him about my options regarding engine etc..

However, seeing as though its been avaiable in very limited numbers, there isnt too much info about the kit. Has anyone had any experience with the lmp?? Hows the quality of the welds etc??

As for the engine, ive been weighing up the pro's and con's between bike and car engines.

the 2 engines that i will possibly use are a hayabusa and sti impreza engine.

bike engine: i love the sound of them, paddle shifts, low weight etc...

what i dont like is the fact that you will essentially be nearly tripleing the weight for what they are originally designed for, reliability when tuning them(as i think i will soon get bored of 200bhp)

car engine: designed to be in a car what weighs over 1200kg, 300bhp standard with 400bhp easily obtainable for a couple of grand by the top scooby tuner Andy forrest on standard internals. reliable!

what puts me off is the weight factor involving the car engine/box which will apparently be 200kg.

whats peoples thoughts on the 3 different kits?

Any thoughts and advice will be greatly appreciated.

steven

I know the bloke who fabricates the LMP chassis.

Everything - absolutely everything - is tigged to a standard that makes anyything else look very amatuerish in comparison.
You would have no complaints whatsoever in that department.

No, haven't been fortunate enough to drive it.

Regarding the Spire GTR, a mate has an original MK GTR for sale for not a lot. Not a road legal car, but complete and finished.
I believe 4 grand would buy that.
It's the blue one on the Spire website - with the 53 number on the side.

If I hadn't bought the Ult kit, I would be having a serious think about that LMP.

Always thought they looked great!

As ive said in my previous posts the lmp is definately my favourite, with more positive comments about it, it makes it more of a definate.

Now got to start thinking about the engine choice! Subaru impreza sti or hayabusa with a charger on it eventually??

Full bodied and you can include many cars from the Sylva genre.... Fury, Phoenix, Stylus, Mojo etc.

Are you thinking of track only or road use?...IMHO LMPs are too compromised on the road unless you either like to regularly replace your splitter or jack the car up so high it looks daft and probably has its handling severly compromised.

If its track only, second hand Radicals are getting quite affordable.

I prefer the looks of the radicals/westfields xtr2 is it??

Its going to be a mixture of both road and track, for the road it will definately have to be jacked up a bit.Although i have a couple of mates with mk's and they seem fine getting around where we live.

Ive never been a huge fan of the fury, mojo etc...

Anyone know what ground clearance the Lmp has?? Or what the difference is between the Lmp and say an mk indy?

Ground clearance

Hi
The ground clearance is adjustable Steven, the car was designed from the outset to achieve reasonable ride height to allow road use over "normal" speed bumps, and the body moulding has an upsweep below the radiator grill to assist road clearance. In all out track guise only, the front diffuser would lower that profile

cheers for that hugh and steve,

il have to check my s2000 as thats slammed to the floor and only just get up my drive as it is, so might have to possibly look at air suspension as an alternative for that extra clearance

stevebubs,

i must admit the raw fulcrum is very appealing and nice looking, and will definately consider it, but at the minute its the turner Lmp, the best looking full bodied lm that ive seen.

It depends on the ground clearance at the min though
