Whilst most would admit to being tempted at that stage, I can't think anyone would think it was an ok thing to do! Scary stuff.

why would you do that ???

How could you build up the rest of the suspension and not notice that your brackets are only tacked?????

Hope he checked the rest of the car just incase!

Based on an MX5 donor.

Tack weld the suspension. Hipe that he did bolt the rear subframe from the mx5 and he didn't only plase it there with the propshaft securing it.

Mine did that when a bottom ball joint stripped. It steered to a halt quite easily with no drama at all despite the wheel flapping about like a spare thing in a breeze.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

The G clamps were clearly put on after the incident in readiness for welding the brackets, it would have been impossible to assemble the suspension with them in place.

I agree it was very silly to do drive it with tack welded suspension though.

It was for that very reason that I trailered my car to the SVA - to have an experienced pair of eyes look over my car before I took it on the road, even though I'd been over everything about a dozen times.

A little bit scary to be giving it so many beans without having given it a once over to notice little things like unwelded suspension!!!

That engine sounds like it's not very happy!! Needs sorting ASAP anyway...
