Pricing on Zetec

Its been a while since i was on here last,
I've been offered a 2 litre silver top Zetec which is my engine of choice for my project, with loom and ecu although ecu will be surplus to requirements if I go ahead with my plan and loom for reference.
Just wondering if anyone could help on how much you reckon its worth I’ve been assured it was running well before removal. Although i will be striping the lot for rebuild. However mileage is unknown.

If any one could help with pricing for the lot and just the engine on its own it would be a great help to me.

Thanks,

By the time you have brought the engine and rebuilt it you may find it costs more than a new engine? Zetec don't seem to suffer engine wear too badly if they have been run on the correct oil .May be better to get an engine you can see running before parting with any hard earned?

A good 2L is worth upto £200. Maybe a touch more for a very good Pre aug 95 motor.

You would be looking at a big bill to rebuild one. I spent a fortune on mine but it didnt really need it.

Best value is to clean it, thrash it and kill it, then buy another

Mine cost me £50 1996 was told it was good runner.... with everything attached to the engine. About £100 for mains and big ends, £25ish quid for con rod bolts. Been quoted for the following parts(IIRC): Head set and bolts about £100 (but not looked around) and about £50 for bottom end gasket set (not shopped around yet). Water pump 1800 escort £30. And oil pump i am undecided but i know that a mate at ford bought one for a 1800 escort and this cost him £80. And the cambelt on my focus was £70 so this is what i am assuming it will be...

New Black Top engine including manifolds ,injectors etc £700 from Robon Hoods new owners . Might be worth checking the price from Fords?

As said dont pay too much, the bottom ends are reliable. If you decide do anything have the head off and do some porting and lap the valves in with some new stem seals. Costs very little to do and you can always re use the head if you manage to break the bottom end. The only real mileage related issue I've found is pitted valves. Also to bear in mind they are a bit of a pain to get out of a Mondeo as you tend to have to drop it along with the front sub frame...lots of hassle to get it out through the bonnet...I know!

Thats excellent thanks for your help.
Im going for a pre-aug95 zetec silvertop. and rebuilds so i can change and check everything to supercharge it. changing compression ratio the proper way and not with a plate. and changing all the internals. its not going to be cheap i know that but luckly i have a friend in the trade in sourcing the internals for me.
