She's going to kill me - just bought a tractor!
Off work today (school closed) and talking to a chap at lunchtime who had an old grey Ferguson tractor (1955ish T20ish) rusting away behind his house.
Not quite sure how it happened but money changed hands and its now mine.
First problem - how to tell her indoors
Next problem - am already losing my garage so have no place for the Locost - hiding a tractor might be difficult.
Down the line problem - dont have a farm or land to drive / use a tractor.
But..... I have a grey tractor to play with - Hooray!! (Wonder what it would be like with a pinto and twin webers?)

Looking at the video i remembered that As i grew up in a farm, i have seen many accidents with tractors rolling over and people get killed.

Have just done the deed and told her. Didn't go down well even though I said it would be useful to clear snow.
Still - the up side is that I own a tractor!

they are nice little machines when they are running and simple to fix
I got one when I was 13, and rebuilt the engine with some help from my dad (its a 1.8 coventry standard engine I think - about 26bhp)
sold it a couple of years ago to free up some space and cash for the dax
mine was an early TE20A (strait petrol, 80mm bore, 6V electrics) but I guess your will be a petrol/parafin with 86mm bores and 12v electrics
I converted mine to 12v, but you can't swap the starters so they turn at twice the speed (it makes starting it alot easier) luckly the starters
are built like brick outhouses and can take it
you need a copy of a vapourmatic cataloge and this website http://www.fergiland.co.uk/
those should get you just about everything - even the workshop manual

its a fergie if its a grey one, the red+grey masseys come later
and the one to get has to be a massey-ferguson 35X (but they arn't cheap these days)

I have two, now you have a reason to buy some land, with a house (for her), a shop (for you and the Locost and a place to sleep when you do something
else she won't like) and a barn ( to store the tractor and other misguided purchases). Welcome to the real world.

I have a 1950 TED (Petrol/TVO) model which is used for rolling and chain harrowing horse paddocks and other odd jobs like stump pulling. I often
wondered if any other Locostbuilders had one but didn't like to ask because I was unsure of the reaction I might get. Good to know there is good
interest on this forum and at least one other owner. The first thing you should do is look on the top of the 'dash' there should be a
metal plate with the model type and serial number which you can use to identify the model and year.

could do with a tractor in the boot of my car for when the roads are white. (BMW - wont even pull itself off the drive when it snows).

Get it re-sold on ebay I would be very VERY supprised if you ended up out of pocket ( unless you paid silly mony for it ).
I know three farmers up here that would buy it tomorow if it was a runner and a further 2 who would buy it to do up.
