Velocity wiring loom "instructions"

Hi All,

I have put the couple of sheets of A4 paper which came with my Velocity wiring loom somewhere safe.

Very safe.

Has anyone got a copy they could scan in and mail to me?

Thanks,
Tim

I'm building a Luego Locost but according to the price list the wiring harnesses are the same so I will scan the docs for you later.

Velocity instructions

Hello Chick

If the instructions aren't the same for both locost and velocity then let me know and I'll post you a copy of my velocity instructions. I don't have a scanner so I'll have to send it the old fashioned way.

Let me know if you need them

Eddie

Steve

I guess the one that Chick sent you was a copy of the one I sent him, my colours matched the chart exactly, maybe elitewiring wiring can clarify.

All ok now, I got another sheet from Luego and it is the correct one.
Strange that it differs from the one Chris gave me ?
The one from Luego is also a lot more descriptive with comments on which flasher relay to use etc.

im not sure if this is the instruction sheet that i wrote, but i do know that the company who have taken over the manufacture of the looms have no understanding of electrics and i doubt they have rewriten the instructions, the instruction sheet that i have seen since is a direct copy of the one that i made up. it might be that chris has an earlier version.
anyway if you have it sorted all is ok.

with regard to the looms them selves, all the ones that i made were seriallised for tracing these very problems, i dont think the latest ones are.

Mine is a type 060602 serial number 0209 dated 9th June 03.
Interestingly, i just received an e-mail response from Luego with a scanned copy of instructions which is different (in format and layout anyway) from the one they faxed me, and the one Chick sent me !
(I phoned, and e-mailed Luego for help, so got two responses)
Perhaps it is the same colour scheme though, will check tonight.
Pretty confusing eh, thats three versions now !!

The loom is excellent. I have completed the install up to the steering column. It's doing my head in now trying to figure out the sierra wires for lights and indicators.
One question, the bunch of black earths in the dash area, do the all go to earth or are they for instruments ? and if so, where do they earth ?

Cheers

the loom and instructions seem fine i think the problems probably me !

i have the lights working fine ( dipped side lights and full beam ) now trying to sort indicators,

Im using the sierra steering column from leugo the instructions from the loom state under title

IDICATOR SWITCH/HAZARD SWITCH

Permanent supply (30) purple
Ign switched supply (54) green
Output to LH indicators (L ) green/red
Output to RH indicator (R) reen /ltgreen
Output to flasher relay 49 red/ltgren
Input from flasher relay 49a ltgren/brwn

...so what i need to do is just connect these to my steering colum left hand side stalk right ?

if so i need to figure out what connections do what i have sourced i think which is left and right ind because i tried it out on a sierra that was all working and when we switched left ind we found a wire which flashed and again for right also found which one was permantly on but flashed when eached side was switched on and also when hazards on.

Can anyone help me figure out which is flasher relay in/out and lives and left and right ind just in case i got that wrong as well.

The flasher relay is in the steering colum isn't it?

moa,
the flasher relay is not in the column, it is seperate with connections 49,49a and earth.thats 49 (power in (from ind/haz switch)), 49a (flash output (to switch), and an earth to make it work.

so you have 12v ign switch for indicator,
12v permanent for your hazards,
49 and 49a output and input for flasher,
left and right output to indicators.

sounds like you just have no flash!!!!

grant,
looks like im still working for you (sorting out problems!!)
might see you around some time.
matt.

moa,
sorry, i just realised you probably dont know where the flasher relay is located.
is should be under the scuttle on the left hand side near the fusebox.
matt.

fifer,
all the black wires are to be connected to earth, a good place is the steering column mounting.
matt.

Thanks elite, figured it out over the weekend.
Feeling great today as all wiring done and working exept dash instruments which i am doing last.
I got my flasher relay from Halfords, all sierras are the same and I connected the loom to the stalk switches and low and behold, everything works fine !!
Really chuffed !!
I also used two relays for the headlights through the connections on left side stalk switch via the light switch then earth, it works great.

Its a great feeling when it all works; we spent nearly 4 hours one evening checking the circuits, 1 missing earth wire. The loom was from Luego, maybe one made by Matt, very nice job.
