avast and AVG

they both seem to kill the speed of my internet.

i used the old AVG and it was brilliant
then moved to avast
it seemed to slow my pc to the point where it drove me mad
so it was removed and replaced with the new AVG
which has slowed my pc so much i now click on a page on here i.e. click on mk indy section
3 minutes later it opens
click on a thread
5 mins later it opens unless it contains pictures then i may aswell give up

any more anti-virus programs for this computer novice??
PLEASE !

Get your hand in your pocket and buy Kaspersky.

I've found this the best (so far).

Don't forget to uninstall the old anti-virus.
My wife had Norton from BT, then something from TalkTalk and then bought Kaspersky. Computer was running unbelievably slow and Kaspersky wouldn't load until she uninstalled ALL the Norton using the Symantec uninstall tool.

Much faster now.

Had problems with AVG slowing things down a year or so back (but on a crummy old machine, which didn't help). Replaced it with Avast, and it was fine.

I'm running Avast on a much better machine now and there's no sign of it slowing things down. It's almost as fast as when I'm running Linux Mint! (dual-boot machine).

Open AVG, Double click Link Scanner then take all the ticks out of the boxes then restart PC see if that helps.
