anyone have the iphone 3gs?
I've been a blackberry business user for years, but my new job doesn;t come with one - and even if I ask for one I wont be able to use it for
personal calls - So for the first time in about 4 years I'm going to have to buy a phone.
I love the idea of the iphone, and the new one seems to tick the boxes.
Any user opinion out there? There are a lot of iphone lovers, but I know this place says it like it is.

i always had nokia's but then got a 3g iphone a year ago. i love it and there are apps for just about everything you can imagine.
it is so easy to use, i have never had to read instructions, the software design is ingenious.

Best "convergent device" out there. IMHO
I'm still on a BB because we won't upgrade at work.
Apps are brilliant - limited only by the expanse of your own imagination and timescales you have in farting about trying to find uses for things you
never knew you needed until now!

Dont know about the 3gs but i have the normal 3g and its brilliant! There are a few daft drawbacks though, mainly bluetooth, it has it but you cant
bluetooth stuff to a iphone like you can a normal phone and a few other niggly things but there was a big update(free of course) recently and it fixed
all the old niggles (no mms etc etc) overall i would say i couldnt be without one now i am used to it!

I've got the 3g and it's brilliant using it to post this. I'd get a 3g over the s. If only for the jailbreak and other hacks my 3g
has everything the s has except a compass and voice control thru hacks and it's all easily achievable. There's many guides on line most of
the people on here have built a car to a set of instructions. All in all a great device and I dislike apple

I am in between the Samsung i8910 HD or the iPhone.
I can get the samsung free of charge on a new contract but the iPhone is 190 quid.

+1, the samsung looks good but has no unlimited internet packages on orange.
Also I can get an iphone on O2 for £24/month on the £35/month tariff

The original iPhone is a fantastic toy, and a poor to average phone out of the box. I still find it incredible that Apple didn't provide
support for MMS and forwarding texts from day one, a £10 phone from the Supermarket will do that. That's been fixed in the latest OS release
though, which I guess the 3GS will have.
I've not seen a single phone that can beat the iPhone in terms of the touch screen and user interface though, which has always been one of
Apples strengths.

no reference to discontinuation or recall of the i8910 on the entire internets.

also why are they still advertising it.
sounds like misinformed sales assistant bull to me.
Also, avoid phones4u like the plague. I once went in there and have never experienced so much jargon fueled powerselling in my life!

Same here.
Imaging that i told them that i would consider the alternative phone suggested after i read reviews of it.
I told them that i would be back on Monday. The assistant was making a note of it and the other one was offering money if i took the phone that
day.

on reading a bit more it sounds like phones4u are currently out of stock of the i8910.
I suspect they were therefore trying to flog you a different phone + contract while you were there rather than turn you away!
