Long Stem Steering Rack

maybe a silly question but one I don't the know the answer to !! any reason why a long stemmed steering rack might be a problem? does it have to be short stemmed?

I have a MK1 Capri rack which I believe is slightly wider than the Escort but otherwise the same apart from the long stem.

Any issues? if the stem length is OK but the rack wider should I expect any steering issues?

thanks

I also have one (two actually) and tried to fit it to the book Locost, problem is they are much too wide.
If you are using the Capri axle and using wider 'A" arms it might work. I ended up with a quick ratio Escort rack. The spline for the universals is the same on both racks. (and mine came from Cologne)

A Wider rack will create bump steering issues, I took 4" out of my escort rack then 3" out of the surrounding tube.

You would be better off getting a £100 new quick escort rack.

Stem make no difference as you will chop a bit of tube up to go between this and the column.
