Not me, we pay insurance to take ours out so we will keep on riding!

Remember to slow down for horses!

Yes i appreciate that but when you get little kids all over the road with prancing horses and roads are or seem to be busier these days

Then the question should of read

"Should kids on prancing horses be allowed on the road or kept in fields"

Not having a go, but thats a pretty broad statement for a very specific problem.

I occasionally drive down roads that have horses walking down them. They can be easily spooked and would be very dangerous when out of control. Fast roads are not the place for them the same as they are not the place for small children. Banning them is a bit much though.

I should have said we use to have a horse so know about keeping them

They have as much right to be on the road as you have.

You might as well say ban cars (please don't )

Actually Horses and cyclists have a right to be on the road but cars drivers and motorbike riders are only there by licence which can be revoked so they have more right than you have.

You just have to make allowances for them and get on with it.

The owners should be made to clean up after them the same as dog owners IMHO

I'd rather have them on the road than on the pavement. We get a lot of them round here and the only thing that annoys me is when they ride side by side to talk to each other.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

The problem with riders around here is that they think they own the whole lane and that you should have to slow right down and creep around them whilst they're shaking their fist at you. Cheeky buggers.
But the one thing that drives me to hell, as mentioned, is them shitting all over the road in front of my house! I don't care if its all natural and not toxic, I don't want it there!!

Reminds me of bumper sticker an ex had " I LOVE HORSES...on pitta bread with salad!"

I personally think anyone wishing to use a public road should have to pay Tax and have insurance, also it should be safe to do so. If a car dropped a kilo of slippery crap out of its exhaust every couple of miles would it get an MOT.

Surely a horse causes more damage to the road than a car??

Again not into banning but should have to clean the road afetwards and pay towards upkeep like the rest of us.

oh come one, you have got this out of all proportion. 1 horse to how many ten or hundreds of thousands of cars?

just drive round the horse poo and let's all live in harmony.

Thing I don't like about horses is they have brains, very small ones that can easily malfunction if e.g. they see some litter blown across the road, or they hear a loud noise. Any illusion the rider has of control is pretty much that...

We can say that about car drivers, see a cyclicyst or motorcycilcist and will pull out in front - I had a black golf pull out from side road into my path when I was in the F27, fortunately I had room to swerve round.
