I got one ( a plastic kit) off ebay a while ago for about £4. Only 1/24th scale though.
You can get a very accurate die cast kit in 1/12th scale for about £100+.
Expect to pay more as Chrimbo approaches.

1/12 scale Tamiya Caterham Super Seven BDR sitting 60cm from me in it's plastic showcase 27cm long including spare tire and 12.5cm wide at rear wings.
I have two unbuilt kits (not for sale), my son works for the Canadian distributor for Tamiya

Fab one up with balsa sticks and lite cardboard.

With CA glue shouldn't take more than a couple hours.

I was going to suggest the same - all you need is the outer shape of the chassi/engine not a full scale model (unless you just want one, of course). If you make a balsa former, you could then use modelers clay/plastecine to make the shape you want then tweak it to suit
