Happy but confused!
After six years of building, SVA two months ago, I finally got my tax disc and Registration in from the DVLA!
And heres the confusing bit - they've given me the registration of the donor vehicle.
I now have a brand new self build, on an E reg sierra Reg..
What are the implications of this?
with regard to MOT, tax, emissions etc etc?

I didnt get the logbook back yet...
Got all my receipts, build diary etc.
And a shiny new V948 - Number Plate Authorisation
But youre right, its a new number, i just retained the 'E'
which is surprising - scratch built, zzr1200 engine, new suspension, wheels etc
so, how does this work? is this a new car? MOT in three years? or next year?
Classic car insurance?
Emissions at MOT?

Go to local motor factors give them reg ask them to put it in computer and see what comes up, if it says sierra you have a problem and will have to go
DVLA again.

You only get new reg if vehicle has been built from all new parts (one item reconditioned to as new is allowed, usually engine)
If you have used a doner, from which you have used 4 (iirc) major parts, you will get an age related reg (E in your case)
If neither of the above apply, you get a Q
simples !
MOT in 3 years

Ok, mot in three years, which is good.
WHat about emissions - its a 2004 ZZR12 engine, so Im assuming the same levels as the SVA?

In theory it should be same as SVA but in reality it'll probably be tested to pre-cat levels as an E reg.

But not as valued as a standard original plate.
A lot of people i know are put off by a Q plate car as a "Vehicle of unknown origin".

If your buying a tin top then a Q would ring alarm bells, but If you are buying a kitcar, hopefully you would have the gumption to see the car for
what it is (build quality, documentaion, history etc) and look beyond the plate.
All imo of course!
