Mazda V6

Since having seen Claire's Mazda V6 in the Fury and done a bit of googling on the Mazda K series in general, I'm increasingly convinced that it's a great call for use in a mid engined car.
Light, all aluminium construction, compact, it seems to fit all of the bills.

Then I found this bloke's videos on youtube.
It seems that he's revving it to the thick end of 10,000rpm.
Haven't established what's been done to the engine yet, but my God that's one hell of an engine note.
Ye Olde Sylva might have a bike engine, but once it's finished and the long awaited mid engined car gets started, it's having a Mazda V6.
That's much closer to the much sought after F1 soundtrack than any bike engine out there.

Yep , that sure does rev
But to build a KL to rev like that aint cheap - a full strip down is first on the list , to open up the crankshaft oil-ways , then your going to need forged pistons and rods , solid lifters , cams , titanium valve collars , ally flywheel , billet oil pump (apparently they fly apart over 8000rpm) , and possibly oversize valves .
Plus........a top end gasket set is around £180

Morning all,
What are the implications of fitting a Mazdz v6 to a 7 with a type 9 box?

Indeed is it do'able?

I believe Claire has it bolted on a Mazda MX5 box using an adaptor plate.

Yep - mine is on an Mx5 box .
The main reason is that the starter has to be mounted `gearbox' side , on the adapter plate and there is just too much bell housing in the way with a type nine .

I have an MX5 box for sale if you want one.

It was from a 1,8 which i believe has a longer 5th gear if interested.

Nah....

Stick the Mazda V6 in the Sylva. It's front mid engined anyway.
