ODB 2 Fault codes Help

I had a cable from ebay, run it on the car, skoda fabia, and i have found a fault code in the steering assist, the code is, does anyone know where i am able to find some more information about what is wrong, i think it is the steering sensor, don't want to buy one and it not be that...

Control Module Part Number: 6Q0 423 156 Q

Component and/or Version: LenkhilfeTRW V250

Software Coding: 00140

Work Shop Code: WSC 13765

1 Fault Found:

01317 - Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285)

79-00 - Please Check Fault Codes

First rule of fault code reading is fault codes can't be trusted, they rarely point to the true cause of a fault and are often spurious.

Second rule is take a note of the codes then clear them and see if they re-occur.

I have gut a feeling this is either spurious fault code or one of those mysterious codes that occur when a a brake light switch goes bad (strange but true).

Clear it if the code re-occurs you might have a fault but if you have no symptoms don't worry too much.

Also VAG-Com isn't perfect as most of the codes were done by reverse engineering and VAG use a lot of different ECUs.

googling your error code shows up loads of stuff.

None of it very informative.

Sounds like a catch all error for "I don't understand".
