Old plasma or old LCD for X-Box?
Hi chaps
Will an older (3 or 4 years old) LCD screen 37 inch sort of size be better to use for gaming than a 42 inch plasma of similar vintage?
I see on some smaller LCD screens that the screen almost struggles to keep up with fast moving objects, is this true of plasma?
Its for the boys 'new' crash room as my daughter is leaving home so we have quite a nice sized TV room were are building.
Don't fancy a CRT in there so its a choice of one or other above!

I seem to remember that the older plasmas were better but if it's a decent make LCD there's no reason why it can't be good for
games. My samsung 46 is about 3 years old and it's excellent for HD And games.

I still use a huge CRT jobby I got new for just over £100 and its great for the x-box if it goes in the corner like mine it doesn't matter
how deep the tv is

Ps you can't just look at different manufactures of TVs. It's the individual models that you have to look at. Some of the Sony/ samsung/
panasonic ones are really good but other models from the same companies are shite

with lcds youll always get the trailing image, i think it gets worse over time too... Id say go plasma.

I have a 46" Samsung back projection TV which I only used for films or an XBOX 360 and that wasn't very often so its still got years of
use left in the bulb. 720p but perfect for fast moving stuff like gaming. £175 (£1400 when I bought it!) and you can give em a nice pressy.
If its of concern it'll use a lot less power than a Plasma which use more the brighter the picture displayed i.e. games!

Thanks for the offer but your a bit too far away to make it viable!
I've also got my eye on a plasma a little nearer to home!

As a rule I'd say plasma is better. It doesn't have the ghosting you get with lcd but watch out for screen burn, or go the whole hog &
get a projector. My brothers' got one, great fun with the wii & a 10' screen

Look out at the top corners of the screen. It is the logos that channels use that will "burn" into the screen. Also the red button
interactive service logo can be a problem. It may not be obvious at 1st glance so check carefully. Once you see it, it drives you mad!!
If it has any screen burn, it will look like a ghost like image of a logo with no colour.

plasma and to avoid image burn on my ps3 i have a standby option that dim's the screen if i don't touch the controller for 5 mins
never had image burn issues
if money was no issue then a new generation LCD would be perfect but the older ones are no where near the plasma
