DVLA Inspection

Eventually, due to poor 'weather conditions' the DVLA man came round to do his inspection. Turned up at 9am showed him car and left him to it. 9.02 he says all complete and can I use your toilet - 9.05 all done and left.
Not bad 2mins for an inspection and 3 mins for a wizz javascript:icon(''

Think yourself lucky. You have to trailer the car to them at Manchester. They won't come out for anything apparently it's to do with health and safety!

The mental gymnastics a landlord will employ to justify immoral actions is clinically fascinating. Just because something is legal doesn't make it moral.

I had quite the same story, except i am coming from Belgium (close to german border)

So 3.5 hours Calais ( crossing the channel by train) , + 2.5hours drive in UK.
Take the car out of the trailer, push it in my friend's garage.
2 min for inspection.
Load the car on the trailer, 3 hours drive back to Folkestone and back home
So , 13 hours and 1.200 km drive for the inspection.

Borehamwood office came out for me two, might take a while for them to come around depending on how busy they are (i.e. weeks). I was happy though saved hassle as I don't have a trailer or suitable tow vehicle.

Only snag was they took months to get the other paper work done (i.e. the summer good weather ).

belgian2b - Don't bother unloading the car off the trailer, I never did and I know others haven't. They just want to see the chassis number stamped onto the chassis and they're done. They can stand on the trailer for that.

Does make you wonder why they cant trust us or VOSA when all the paperwork we put through relates to what VOSA carried out during the IVA/SVA (obviously other than proof reciepts). It could actually save DVLA some money as well... but I suppose that isn't the point
