Ford focus ignition fault.

My Focus 1.6 petrol has gone into limp home mode. Checked easy things like plugs, connectors etc and all OK. Next checked if sparks at plugs using a strobe, and 1+4 no spark from coil...great I thought, tried another spare coil but same thing??? Wondered if ECU needed reset to get out of limp home mode. Called local mobile mech with ECU software. He checked and said the coil was showing faulty, without a second thought he changed it, dispite me saying I had already tried another...still same fault so out come new coil and old one back in. Getting an error code p0351 which is saying the coil circuit is faulty. Also tried swapping plug leads just in case. Anyone any ideas? Poss ECU to coil cable fault or ECU driver circuit fault as looks like feed for that side of wasted spark coil pack faulty...

i had a focus do the same tried a new coil and it still missfired, after a closer look one of the wires on the plug at the coil was snapped inside the plastic insulation very close to where it entred the plug. only noticed it because the wire was slightly bent. worth checking.

My Mrs used to have an 02 reg Fiesta, that was always going into 'limp home', turn it off, wait 5 mins and it was OK, Ford dealers always said, there was nothing wrong with it, yeah right.

(Probably doesn't help)
