Why would being Japanese make it better condition than a UK one? Better made? They look after them better?

If you would care to check a map, most population centres in Japan are near the coast.
Japs just demand higher specs and better standards of workmanship. they even re-worked Rollers before they went on sale in Japan.
As for weather, ever heard of typhoons?

Salt that gets thrown out by gritting lorries and sticks to the underneath of the wheel arches tends to have more effect than that in the ocean.
Saturday night there was a pile of salt 3" deep at the end of our path where the wagon stopped at the junction, it looked like Skeggy beach  A
bit of water on the car never did it any harm and probably did it some good, mine always looks cleaner after a shower. Jap imports never have many
miles on them either.

Your insurance companies are pretty quick to pull the trigger on write-offs. Doorskin, A-panel and possibly a wing? Even with new panels that could be
fixed for less than £1000.
