The Transit came with a low compression pinto, that's probably the best starting point for a turbo.
Can make around 185bhp.

Done a few pinto turbos. They work well with the standard EFi up to 10psi. I use 7psi on a standard Cosworth 2wd T3 turbo. That gives over 185bhp.
This is my RS2000, the first one i did to see what it would do.
I use a simple log type manifold in stainless steel
Dyno print out with low boost and revs kept down, didn't know if it had enoigh fuel to run right. But all was well.

I am using the 2.3 ford factory turbo built in lima ohio in the states. I dont know exactly how similar the engines are but from the outside they
sure look the same. Some parts may be interchangeable. They came in the german make xr4ti as well as the north american turbo thunderbird and svo
mustangs. Intakes and exhaust maybe direct bolt on. Mine should be somewhere in the 250 hp range. but will hold easily another 100hp all day
long.

Thanks

I think Practical Performance Car are running a series right now on how to supercharge a pinto. It should have lots of useful tips on pinto forced
induction!

2.3 engine is different to the 2.0. No parts are interchangeable.

Yes for my sins. Been playing with turbo'ed none turbo engines for some years now.
One limit of the turbo pinto is the pistons/rods. Fit some cossie items and oil pump then it wind the boost up and run up to 300bhp of fun.
There not a bolt it fit though as the pinto crank need to be ground to the cossie big end size first.
