mk1 steering rack
Hi
I just ordered a 2.9 rack mk2 from RD to replace my mk1 escort rack on my striker also ordered 2x track rod ends as they told me the threads were
different.
does any one know if the tapers are different?

Tapers are the same, just older ones are imperial threads.

No tapers are very different --- the Escort mk2 track rod end is much bigger in all respects it is identical with the Cortina 3-5 and Granada.
The Escort 1 used the same tapers and thread as the Mini, Allegro, Vauxhall Viva and Hillman Avenger ie much smaller tapers.
Futher complication arises with the Mk2 RS models

It is however possible to transfer the complete track rods from a MK1 Escort to Mk2 Esort rack (or Cortina 3-5 rack) as the racks were made by
the same manufacturers.

so does a mk 2 rack fit the Striker coozer? if not what,s the differance cheers
