He's dropped the price then, pretty sure that was up at 1 point for around 24k!

Really would love to know how you could come up with that figure!

built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

You're a dealer who knows nothing about kitcars and the guy who part chops it for one of your new mondeos tells you its worth £25k.

Don't believe him? Well, he tells you, have a look at the caterham and westfield websites at the turnkey models and see how much they're going for.

Idiot

How is it an R500 lookalikey?? Looks like an MK to me.

No way is it worth that, he's clearly claiming the Caterham linky to bump the price up.

Caterham should step in and say. HOY! NO!

And, its not a full race cage, just a full cage, too many bends to be approved for racing.

I hope you're taking the mickey, MK as good as caterham?
Sorry to offend the MK owners but I've had one and driven lots of caterhams there is a massive difference in build quality, handling reliability

Whilst there is undoubtedly an element of badge value with Caterham (and Westfield) IMO they are both superior products to the MK cars.

That's not to belittle the MKs in any way whatsoever, but the engineering development, build quality (inc. accuracy) of the above brands is of a higher level.

That said (as with all kit cars) there is a huge variation in how well they're acutally built and what spangly parts have been attached.

The MK for sale looks well specced and well put together - as to value I would have thought £10-12k from a dealer is more realistic.

As an aside, it always makes me laugh when you see "FULL DEALER FACILITIES AVAILABLE"....

what they mean is they have a coffee machine and toilet and know a mate who can arrange expensive finance to help you part with your money

IS that number on the plaque the chassis number?
ISn't that a bad idea to have it publically visable if so?

But we are all the same, we know that's an MK, that's an MNR and that's a Westie.

My mates say they all look the same.

It's like any part-ex though, it's the price to change. If he chops it in against a £60k Porker, the dealer can give him £15 px for it and still make £20k profit out of the whole deal.

If that's a real No. Plate, I suspect that could be £5k?

Got to agree with the others regarding the MK being as good as a Caterham... IMHO the only advantage that an MK can claim over a Caterham is that it is cheaper!

Quick reg check shows "R4 CER" to be on an Audi A3.

Suspect the owner decided to keep the reg plate, but the dealer took the photos before hand.

The add doesn't mention the number plate which you'd expect it to being so desirable.

mks are only less reliable than caterhams if theyre not built well. the same person building one of each, theyd be just as reliable as each other. ive had a good look at the caterham kit and its not as good, or easy to work with.
however, im speaking from a very biased point of view.

oh, and the cage is FIA approved. or mine is. and its the same.

Are you saying MK (or you personally) have had their cage officially tested and certified by the FIA and have the documentation and ROPS stickers?
If not then you might want to have a read of the MSA's newsletter regarding the front upright bends.

maybe my memory is wrong, but im sure i saw somewhere that it was. please, excuse me if im talking crap.
however,id still have an mk over a cateringvan any day.
(without putting too fine a point on it )
but hey, each to their own, eh?

[Edited on 8/7/10 by A1]

right, just read the bit on roll cages... id say the cage on an mk is 'pulled' to fit the contours of the vehicle.

[Edited on 8/7/10 by A1]

third time lucky! the cage mk put on their cars, as seen in the pics, IS in fact race legal. the car that they race has the same one and its legal.
