Sump Ground Clearance (LACK OF)

Does anybody know if theres any good, proven modifications to the sump which allow it to be shortened without causing oil starvation, Ive got very little ground clearance and I really want to lower my car as its a bit '4x4' looking at the moment

Its a Nissan 200sx turbo lump and theres no modified sumps available

drysumping is abit too expensive aswell

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

I have the same problem with my AJ6. The problem i have is that i cant 'cut and shut' the sump as the bell housing is just as low.

As you can see, she looks very 4x4 atm and i still need to raise it by an inch. Im thinking of making some kind of 'side skirt' like some tintops have.

i've not got a clue what your sump is like now, but suppose you baffled it, shortened by however much you need, angled at the bottom to make sure the oil gathers at the pick up, and put 'wings' on it to give the extra capacity?

sort of like this

There is an excellent article on Guy Crofts website relating to making a big wing sump for a Fiat TC which applies to most other engines.
See "Fiat 131 TC big-wing sump conversion".
You may have to sign up to view it - suggest you read his rules before signing up..
Covers most aspects.
HTH.

guy croft is such a good guy to deal with, he's one of the few who will tell you his 'secrets' and all the theory behind it.

Great forum too.... as above just follow the rules
