booking long haul flights
Its been 10 years since i booed a long haul flight and we are looking at the possibility of going to Australia for Christmas.
Can anyone offer any advice of where to look for competetive prices etc?

Go to your local travel agent with a rough price you want to pay.

Where in Aus? I go out every couple of years to see my family in North NSW, and fly to Brisbane.
Royal Brunei Airlines is by far the best for seat pitch and food. Stops are in Dubai and Brunei, and breaks the trip up nicely to exercise your legs.
You can even overnight in Brunei cheaply, and it's a nice place to see. Prices are comparable to most others, but you gotta book as far ahead as
you can.
If you want mega cheap, find a group charter, but be prepared for a 'cattle car' flight. Usually these are advertised in the Sunday
papers.

Just remember (I'm sure you are) that it's a helluva long time to be couped up, so the cheapest option is not always the most sensible
one!

Pay by credit card, there are a lot of travel industry "problems" at the moment.. You should get your cash back the company disappears..

Try looking at the airlines themselves. We went to VietNam in April. Trailfinders found that Singapore Airlines had just released some seats at
knockdown prices. Flew out on A380 too! - £702 all in for 2 adults.
My son got a similar deal direct with SIA
But Christmas to Oz attracts a premium,

I live in the UK but have customers in Sydney and Wellington. Over the last two years I have been to Australia (NZ sometimes) 11 times. I therefore
feel qualified to answer this question!
Your best bet is to look at the airlines direct. The best for economy is BA the best for premium economy is Quantas. Make sure you book on the right
flight operated by each airline as the share. You need to be on the correct plane else you will end up in Quantas economy or BA's premium
economy, neither of which is as good IMHO.
Get some sleeping tablets and try to live by the time zone your going to as soon as you board. The best route is either via Sing or KL.
