Uprated Springs

Following on from my other post about my clutch playing up and letting me down again due to the actuating arm on the clutch cover giving up again I was after a few thoughts.
Basically there is a notch on the side of the arm creating a sort of fork affair, a bit like a snakes tongue and this in turn hooks around the clutch actuator. When the arm is turned, the actuator pulls outwards against the springs and disengages the clutch plates.
I'm just wondering, now that I'm on my 5th arm with all the same problems if it's caused by having uprated springs?
The notch in the arm is widening causing it to squeeze past the actuator and not disengage the clutch.
Has anyone any experiences of this or ideas?

You know if it weren't for all the wiring and the fact that I can't be arsed I'd take you up on it.
Yours was a far easier engine to work with

I doubt it's the springs.

I have upgraded springs in My Zx9r and have had no problems so far..couple of thousand miles now and no problems(touch wood_)

Cool. Couple of thousand of miles is enough to convince me then.
I've noticed that the cable nipple is a bit stiff in the cable/nipple holder/bracket thing on top of the arm and I wonder if it's placing slightly more strain on one side of the arm than the other. Although the bearings should minimise it, it may be enough to tip the balance.
I've just been and welded and shaped the ends on all my other arms now and they're lined up ready for use.

hi grumpy one.
Do you have too much travel on your clutch pedal? if it's fully disengaging the clutch and you are still pushing you will easily break the arm as they are only made for finger use on bikes.
I would make a stop under the pedal.

It's possible that this is the cause. I do have a stop but I wonder if it needs more on to stop the pedal sooner as you say.
