Cool! Made my computer chunk a bit but I think it's on it's last legs Perhaps permanently over-clocking it 12+% wasn't such a good idea.

Sorry if it is a dumb question but what is it celebrating?

I can't click on the bubbles to find out...

Overclocking, those were the days, I overclocked my Athlon 1Gig to around 1220MHz just on the clock muliplyer and pushing the FSB up to 102. I had to take the side off the case lay it on its side direct a fan across it and open all the doors and windows in my flat to get it to run stable.

I probably could have got more if I had better memory. Even with the multiplyer down it still shutdown with the FSB at 103

Still it ran perfectl at 1150 permanently .

Nobody knows. Best guess is it's not celebrating anything but is an exercise / demonstration of HTML5.

Meh... Back in the day I had my PIII 650 running at 50% overclocked for years. Never skipped a beat. Today my i5 is performing the exact same feat and taking it in its stride. In between I had AMD which never overclocked well at all so I didn't bother.

go into the bios and muck about with the multipliers and voltages. i dont normally say this but if you need to ask its best left alone. or experiment on an old pc you dont mind killing

If you're a total noob, best read some general guides online. But yeah you essentially just adjust some frequency settings in BIOS (assuming your bios allows it). You can go a little way just adjusting frequency alone, but to go further you'll need to adjust voltages too. Then you have heat to worry about so need to use a cooler a little better than the OEM fit that would come with the CPU. That's it in a nutshell.

For the benefit of anyone not in the UK who's wondering what they're on about, this only appears to be on google.co.uk, NOT google.com or google.com.au (for instance).

Cool too
