fuel tank quality
Not sure if right place but purchased this tank from fleebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12-GALLON-ALLOY-FUEL-TANK-KIT-CAR-RACE-RALLY-/170522477303?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27b3ee82f7 and
whilst happy with alloy quality of construction, the sight glass turns out to be a transparent hose that doesn't even come with jubilee clip.
I fear it would leak in time and expected a more robust arrangement such as a rigid pipe with compressin fitting of a sort.
Am I being unreasonable and this is just how most fule tanks come?
Right now I would hate to put 12gallon of expensive fuel in it only for it to pi** out of some poor joint or aged hose.
comments please!

The pipe should be fuel resistant, I would ask for proof
If it does not have clips and you think it should, Put them on, your choice.
Many race cars use this system, ultimately your car your choice.
I don't see any issues with the seller as you have plenty of opportunity to ask all the questions you need to before committing to buy

The main issue is suitability of the hose/pipe for contact with fuel. Knowing that the IVA man will want to see evidence of suitable spec fuel hose
elsewhere on the car I'd expect the same for the sight pipe. I'd also want to fit some proper fuel pipe (not jubilee type) clips for
robustness, although I would probably just fit them myself TBH unless the tank was very expensive.

not looking to attribute blame here snapper. so your last comment reads a little harsh toward.
will seek confirmation on pipe but it was my error thinking sight glass meant glass.
I have worked in heavy industry and see sight glass items often and being more robust than this so my familiarity and expectations are diffierent to
what I received which is why I asked the question?

I'd just replace the transparent tube with some normal fuel hose and fit a fuel sender Simples.
In fact that is exactly what I did on my STM tank as I didn't want to have to stop my car and look in the boot to know when I was going to run
out of petrol!

I would have expected fuel pipe clips on the pipe TBF but it does state in the listing as being fully tested so you would exoect it not to leak.
For the nature of the fuel tank i would have expected some clear hose rather than glass for the sight pipe as the glass could fracture easily.
Ring them up and ask about the clips they may even send you some.

Having had a fuel tank I had 'professionally' made up split down a seam a week ago, i'd make sure your confident its not going to
start pouring fuel out.
I'd get in touch with them and ask them what they normally do, the pipe shouldn't be under any pressure, so as long as its a tight fit its
not likely to be a problem, but i'd put some clips on there for peace of mind.
