Manufacturers Plate
Hello,
Can anybody clarify exactly what is needed on the manufacturers plate?
From the IVA manual I understand it needs:
Manufacturers Name
VIN
Axle Weights
Is it the design weight or the actual weight?
Thanks
David

I know someone who passed at Leighton Buzzard a couple of weeks ago with no weights on his manufacturer's plate.
Still best to put them on, though.
As some day it may happen that a victim must be found,
I've got a little list-- I've got a little list
Of society offenders who might well be underground,
And who never would be missed-- who never would be missed!

Tiger told me not to put them on my plate for IVA - which I'm a bit worried about but think this is what they do?
I'm not going for IVA until Spring so still a little time to ponder/get feedback/worry!

passed mine at nottingham with no weights, i am sure if you read the IVA it doesnt say that you need them see section 3.
1.
The vehicle must be fitted with a manufacturer’s plate, in a conspicuous and readily accessible position.
2.
The manufacturer’s plate must be made of a durable material.
3.
The manufacturer’s plate must be indelibly marked with the manufacturer’s name and the vehicle identification number.
4.
The manufacturer’s plate must be fitted to a part of the vehicle that will not be replaced through normal use.
5.
The Stamped in VIN must be marked on the chassis, frame or other similar structure which is not easily removable, on the right hand side of the
vehicle. (see note 5 & 6)
6.
The Stamped in VIN must be placed in a clearly visible and accessible position by a method such as stamping, etching (metal chassis) or embossed,
moulded into the structure (glass fibre or carbon fibre chassis) so that it can not be obliterated or deteriorate.
7.
The VIN number must consist of 17 digits (except for mass-produced vehicles see note 4)
8.
The information must be shown in a single line. (in the case of a mass produced vehicle the use of two lines is permissible)
9.
Capital letters and numerals must be used for the manufacturer’s name and VIN

Its interesting, because the manual doesnt mention the weights as being manditory, although the example it gives does list them.
However at least one personhas failed for not having them.

I recently got a "plate" from MK when picking up my bodywork. Its just a silver sticker with MK's details on and then a Chassis
number at the bottom. They told me to stick it to a square of ali and rivet it on. So I am hoping that is sufficient along with one or two welded on
stamped chassis plates.

Mine didn't have the weights on the plate and it passed. He did recommend they go as as it makes life easier if you are stopped and asked by
BiB.
