you want 5w/30 I would not use 40. Silvertops will have problems with the hydraulic lifters.

The best oil i find is fords own 5w30 semi.

It will rattle with 10w40. Especially a silver top as wasa says.

Put 10/40 in and you will be listening to the big ends knocking and top end rattling in no time.

Dont do it, put the prescribed Ford 5/30 in it as said above.

I used 5w30 and my engine cooked it .
Lost oil pressure when giving it the "Berries".
Changed to Millers 5w50 fully synthetic and never had a problem since.

Something about this, so very wrong.....I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn`t like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your advice i have got 5/30 semi as i norm put it. I only was going to put it in becouse i had it laying around and i saw on one forum you can use it on high mileage zetecs. Its amazing how clean good oil is crucial on zetecs when i first built mine years ago i used crappy car lube and it used to have a very slight rattle when cold but soon as i changed it for ford oil it was fine. I used to have a mondeo and when the oil got crappy it used to run and idle rubbish.
