increasing the space under the bonnet.

so ive installed my zzr1100 engine. which looks great! yayyy

ive setup all the hoses ready for it to start including puttin on the HT leads (which ye i know i need)

well now the bonnet dont fit i need to higher it about 1"

any ideas?

my idea was to get some very light 1" box and run a length from the scuttle/dash to the front on both sides then fasten the stuff to that??

any ideas?

if not ill have the engine and air filter hanging out of the top of the bonnet.

cheers

As you suggest: 1" box to raise nose, bonnet and scuttle together.

Alternatively, if you are doing an ali bonnet, just raise the nose and that might give enough clearance?

I've been there already with my engine. Not nice, but very difficult to work out before hand.

Solutions:
Raise the bonnet (bulge, scoop, or whole bonnet)

or

Lower the engine (cut down sump, or rotate engine)

or

Shorten the engine (on mine there was a crankcase breather, which I swapped for one from a gsf600, that bought me 15mm). I don't think that the zzr1200 has any appendages that can be removed.

The best solution is to lower the engine, but you have got past the point where that would be easy. So, let the bonnet modifications begin. Personally I think bulges are cool.

Maybe something from here link
