Welder cutting out
I was welding in my garage last night.
My welder started playing up (BOC Migmaster 130), the on off switch has a light behind it, this started flickering and you coudl hear it starting to
cut out, the light went off a couple of times.
Turned the welder off and on again and it was fine. I think it got a bit better over the couple of hours I was out there but it cut out a couple of
times (I hadn't done hardly any welding so not od the duty cycle , if anything the opposite).
Just wondering if it is too cold for my welder, I'll also double check my extension lead.

That's really bad
Does the main light go out when a welder over-heats? I've got a poxy 90A job which over-heats just thinking about welding but I've never
noticed the light going out.
? loose connection on the main on/off switch?

If it's cutting out it might be a plasma cutter. Blame Confused, he started it

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Mine did that, turned out to be a break in a wire at the plug.

yep it has a fan,
I'll take the plug apart and take a look.
Its never thermally overloaded before and this was at the start so it hand't even been used much.

think my welder has a light in the switch that comes on when its overheated.
as above, does it have a cooling fan? and more importantly, is the fan still working? if the fan's broke, then it might well be overheating

My friends TIG does it in this weather. It gets a bit of condensation inside it and trips then comes straight back on again about 2 - 3 times at the
start of welding something, then it heats up a bit and is fine all day.

If youve been grinding mild steel next to your welder it could be metal fragments of dust! A lot of welding sets get burnt out due to this so be sure
to blow your welding set out every few months. mild steel dust also lays on the electrical boaurds inside the welder aswell this is the main cause of
machines going (bang)
