Running gear help....

.. Just at the stage of fitting the front uprights- but im not quite sure on the orientation of them-

Is it this way(1)-

or this way(2)-

Sorry about the different angle of picture; hopefully you get the idea!

Also can any one identify the uprights? And also the brake calipers (believed to be mk2 RS2000??)

One final thing- To keep all of you who are snow bound occupied; Does anybody know a company/ person that has all the braking components for an Atlas axle? Im running out of ideas on who to go to!
Heres what ive got in terms of brakes-

Cheers LocostBuilders

Mark.

Standard m16 calipers (as fitted to cortinas, capris and some escorts) as far as I can tell

yep, cortina uprights, so as per #2

BUT WAIT! the steering track rod enters the hole in the upright from underneath i'm sure? ( i don't know, i don't have them)
the hole is tapered, and the taper in the hole should fit the same way as the track rod

Good spot that man! Absolutely right, it should enter from underneath.

I should have spotted that one, it's been a long day

With regards to the steering rack ends- I just put them in the holes quickly without checking; just to take the picture! And yeah, they are tapered- so they do need to be the otherway around... Good spot anyway!

Ill have another search for Atlas Axle bits and pieces- but obviously as its such an old part; they are pretty hard to come by! I know 'Fostech (??) engineering specialise in Atlas bits and pieces, and also do a conversion for sierra rear discs! Ill pop them an email and see what they say.

Cheers guys- Youve done me a huge favour

when i asked fostek about full floating modded atlas axles, he was, er, not very helpful. kind of like, i should know all this if i'm doing it, and he shouldn't need to give me any advice. needless to say he didn't get my business either
