Silly-Con Hose Bends
Hi all,
This morning ive priced up the silicon hoses that i need for the coolant and boost hoses, and am still recovering....
Using one of our suppliers catalogues (I know theyre not the cheapest) as a guide, i thought i'd total it all up;
Coolant
1 length straight 43mm
90 degree - 8
45 degree - 2
Induction
1 length straight 52mm
90 degree - 5
45 degree - 2
= £778.90! 
This is on top of the aluminium tube between the bends!
Does anyone have a locost solution at all please? I really cant afford £800 on hoses!

For coolant I used Gates hoses from my local autospares stockist. If you are set on silicone, try ebay and search for Viper hoses or

What about getting aluminium pipes and then silicone joints.

Yes, use aluminium tube for the straights.

I would guess by the number of bends to the number of straights listed, this is alraedy using aluminium for most of the straights

look up "intercooler kit" on ebay. The cost effective solution seems to be aluminium around the corners with short silicone joiners. You
would have to do some cutting and put some flares on the end otherwise the boost would blow them off.
£80 for the following sounds like it would get you started.

If you want to stick with your design then Rally Design have a range of silicone tubing at decent prices.

Not sure if I have read your requirements right but I get them to £253.60 inc Vat.

Unfortunately ebay doesn't have any on the dimensions required

L0rd, I don't quite understand.
The picture shown is for 2inch or 51mm. Surely this is sufficiently close to 52mm to make no difference.
Just trying to help, maybe I don't understand.

yeah, i've found that putting 32mm hose over a 32mm ali pipe usually leaves a little bit of slack. 51mm over 52mm is probably better,
it'll streatch more than enough
i used 'silicone hose world' off of ebay, worked out a lot cheaper than i expected. i added mine up to be over £300 going by rally design
prices. think it came in at less than half that.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I can probably make some ali bends like the ones you posted matt, Thanks for the idea.
There are two sizes requred, though i can swage the pipework to stop them from coming off.
All i need then, are the straight bits. Much cheaper! Thanks guys.

I bought about a dosen black rubber hose parts for £1 each, which have all cut up into 2/3 suitable lenghts/bends. Job done!

To be honest, Rubber would do but i cant find any that will take more than 80 degrees in temperature.

That's why the Gates catalogue is so useful - it is listed by diameter and has a little picture of the actual hose. I spent a few minutes
browsing in my local factor and bought my entire cooling system plumbing for about £40. I even got a really wierd shape that I needed to get around a
chassis tube next to the radiator.
