C20XE oil filter stud

I've rebuilt my C20XE and am about to fit the oil filter, when i removed the oil filter stud from the 16v engine it had a hex on it and was torqued up pretty tight, the stud i have from an 8v engine has no hex (no oil cooler) has no hex. So i can only use mole grips or something to tighten it. Shold i loctite the stud in to the oil pump housing?

cheers

Don't use Mole grips! Lock 2 nuts together and tighten the stud with the top nut, then unlock them.
