zx12r gearbox

my indy has developed a very high pitch whine when using 5th and 6th gears
after a bent gear rod caused me to miss gears
does anyone know if it could be selector forks or is it likely to be something more serious?
im checking mainly because id like to keep using it and strip over winter
thanks locosters

Hello,

I have broken my zx12 engine and rebuilding a new one.

Both engines came from crashed bikes.

The new one had 2broken teeth on a gear pinion and the old one had serious marks on gear pinions.
This probable came from the shock on the pinions when the wheel suddendly stops.

I am not a specialist, but it seems that gear pinions may be a weakness in those engines.

In your place, i think i would at least change the oil and check for any metal parts in it.

Gerardo
