Machining Techniques and Videos

I recently came across this American website (http://www.jjjtrain.com/vms/) who's contributors all bemoan the decline in engineering skills.

They've got some great little videos, tutorials and flash animations on there.

Definately worth a look if this sort of thing pops your cork.

Cheers,

Neil.

How did viewing web pages give you a virus?

What virus was it? Sophos didn't pick anything up on my machine or at work.

Confused,

Neil.

sophos reported the virus - also to my boss !

The trojan is Sandbox-A

2 hours on and I am still trying to remove it

this is all the worse because i have full domain admin rights

Yep it worked fine for me too - that wasn't the problem.....

It silently downloaded loads of poo onto my computer....

have a quick peak with regedit in HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run (IIRC)
and have a look for 'unusual' entries....

hmmm maybe I was just unlucky......

or it could be something to do with my 'rights' as an admin through our firewall.....

Still regardless... be careful out there ! - I could possibly loose my job over this one (hopefully not!)

Oo-er. Sorry to have caused so much trouble.

I'm administrator on this 2K machine and there's nothing on here. I've just downloaded the latest Sophos angz.exe and done a full check on all disks etc: nothing. Nothing in the registry either.

Intercheck monitor would stop anything dodgy being run. I couldn't see any executables on the site (in IE or Mozilla).

Neil.

Dave,

What was the upshot of it all? Did your website visit coincide with a breach of firewall?

I still can't see how a virus would get through unless it was one of these buffer-overflow jobbies in Windows Media Player.

Cheers,

Neil.
