VAG rear caliper help
Ive recently bought a part built MK Indy, the build was not that far along so Ive decided to strip most of the parts and a suitable starting point
seems to be getting the brakes assembled and in a working condition.
I am having trouble deciding how the rear calipers fit! I belive they are VW Golf calipers but as they are currently fitted the handbrake
operation/mechanism is pointing downwards ie the cable would have to be routed to the bottom of the caliper? Ive attached a couple of pictures to try
and explain!
Ive tried swapping them over but it still doesnt look right.
Any pictures of a similar set up appreciated, cheers.

I'd go by the bleed nipple. That definately needs to be at the top to do anything useful.

I'm sure that the cable runs underneath on most Golfs and many trailing arm cars for that matter.

Ive had a look tonight and as fitted the blead nipples are at the bottom of the caliper. Ive tried swapping them over side for side but they catch the
upright and wont fit without modification to the upright.
Ive tried turning them 90 and 180 degrees and have the same problem. Whichever way I try I dont think I will be able to fit the caliper and neatly
route the handbrake cable and keep it clear from the wishbone without modification to the upright/caliper/handbrake mechanism.
Im not that bothered about the small weight saving Ill get from the VAG calipers and am thinking I may revert to Sierra calipers.
Am I correct in thinking these would be a direct fitment without any moding:

Have you considered using the Mini caliper?
Same bolt spacing, 90mm iirc, as the sierra calipers.
