FS: V8 F27

MUST GO - SO OFFERED FOR SALE AS-IS, OR LESS ENGINE, OR AS A ROLLING-CHASSIS

Re-advertised as I had to revise the description / sale-options.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Formula 27

SVA'd in 2004 using a pre-emissions engine and registered on an age-related plate ( 'V' ).

It was only driven a couple of hundred miles by the builder… most of them were to / from the MOT station!

He decided to emigrate earlier this year so I bought it... and immediately started tinkering with it... which means it hasn't done any miles since… and is in bits!

ENGINE:

3.5 Rover V8 (pre-emission, so no cats required).
Edelbrock Performer manifold.
Edelbrock 500cfm 4-barrel carb.
Edelbrock Elite 14" air cleaner.
Adjustable fuel-pressure valve.
Rover P6 short nose water pump.
Range Rover high volume oil pump with remote Mocal oil filter.
Lucas distributor with amplifier.
Lucas Speed-Leads.
Aluminium Radiator

GEARBOX:

3-speed Borg-Warner 66 with remote oil-cooler and B&M Pro-Ratchet shifter with cable.

CHASSIS:

Factory fabricated chassis.
Factory suspension pack (Inboard front upper rocker-arm and a 5-link rear on a MK V Cortina axle).
Adjustable AVO coil-over shocks all round.
RS2000 solid discs & calipers on the front.
9-inch drum brakes on the rear.
Factory fuel tank kit.
Factory windscreen.
Factory weather gear (hood, sticks, & doors).
Factory pedal box (auto).
Stainless roll bar.
Stainless aero-quip hoses.

BODYWORK:

GRP nose / wings (aluminium stone guards on rear wings).

INTERIOR:

Factory vinyl seats.
VDO electronic gauges (battery, fuel, volts, oil pressure, tachometer & self calibrating speedo).
Mountney steering wheel.
Willans 3-point harnesses.

WHEELS:

15inch Team Dynamics on 200 mile-old Kumho Ecsta's (195 x45 15 tyres).

CURRENT CONDITION:

Scuttle is tatty (treat as needing replaced).
No heater (up to you if you want to fit one... I wouldn't bother).
Footwells need old glue scraped off and re-trimmed.
The aluminium floor panel in the passenger footwell needs replaced or repaired (had a fight with a jack!).
Tunnel top needs fitting and trimmed (pre-cut sheet & carpet material supplied)
No rear cover.
No bonnet (I can provide an old F27 to measure up from).
Needs both radiator hoses.
Wiring may need renewing.
Paintwork is a bit rough (treat as needing painted).
Side-panels need fitted (new un-drilled flared ones supplied which you can trim down to whatever size you wish).
Needs full exhaust system (I can give you two P38 Manifolds if you want to fiddle with them. They are visible in the pics).
Needs intermediate steering column (approx 40cm of splined shaft and 2 UJ's).
Two of the short chassis diagonals near the scuttle were removed to allow engine fitment (treat as needing replaced).

And that's about that... a little work required, but easy to get on the road for Spring (or sooner if you don't mind the cold!).

Remember that this is SVA’d and was road registered with a pre-emission engine!!! It could save a lot of hassle (and money) to buy this and re-build to your taste rather than start a new kit!

SALE OPTIONS

As described... £2995!

Less Drive-train & Ancillaries (Engine, Induction, Alternator, Wiring, Gearbox, Remote Oil Filter, Remote Cooler, Aluminium Radiator, B&M Shifter)... £2495!

Rolling chassis (V5, Chassis, Suspension, Rear Axle, Prop, Steering Rack, Uprights, Brakes, Wheels, Tyres, Fuel Tank, Fuel Lines, Fuel Pump, Roll-Bar)… £1995

NO OFFERS I'M AFRAID, BUT WOULD CONSIDER A P/X FOR SOMETHING INTERESTING!

Remember that it will need trailered away. Alternatively, I can deliver it anywhere in 100 mile radius from Edinburgh at £65, 200 mile radius at £100 or £175 for anywhere else that's further on mainland GB.

If I hadn't just spent a damned sight more than that on booking a fortnights scuba diving I'd have snatched your hands off, £3000 for a registered car (albeit needing a bit of work) a bargain

THE 'AS IS' OPTION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE... as I've sold the Edelbrock Carb, Manifold and Air filter.

So, £2700 for everything less the induction parts mentioned above, or either of the two remaining options listed in the original post at £2499 or £1999 respectively.

The engine and gearbox are now up for grabs. Both are nice and clean and both were reconditioned around 2002 / 2003. They've only done a couple of hundred of miles since.

The engine:
3.5 Rover V8 (pre-emission, so no cats required).
Adjustable fuel-pressure valve.
Rover P6 short nose water pump.
Range Rover high volume oil pump.
Lucas distributor with amplifier.
Lucas Speed-Leads.

£500

The gearbox:
3-speed Borg-Warner 66 (Rover SD1).

£300 (Rimmer Bros are looking at £550 + £120 no-core charge for a reconditioned one).

Or £750 for both together and I'll include free mainland UK delivery if sold as one lot.
