How an engine bay should look.

Maybe the manufacturers of the bec's might have a good look at how neat and tidy a proper engine in a proper engine bay can look.

Just about the same number of wires and tubes as a Busa install, but this is far more professionally installed to what I've seen in the past.

Cheers,
Nev.

Why you targeting/having a go at bec install? Surely this must be relevant to all?

it is a fine install indeed, but yeah, not sure why BEC is picked out.
wouldn't almost all hyabusa installs be EFI? this is a carbed engine, so there is a fair bit less wiring and stuff here

does look very nice though. what is it?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

He's obviously never seen lees (maximil666) mnr R1 turbo install and just trying to pick yet another fight on here! Most of which he loses as he can't back up his statements!
What makes a bike engine not a 'proper' engine? I've had 2x bec's and both were proper engines and proper cars. Now a cec with a decent motor

Looks nice but things appear to be mounted to a removable structure.

Looks like the Red Bull Toyota(yeah right) Nascar I saw at Goodwood this year. Gimme half an hour and you can hear what it sounds like. Got a video somewhere of it being warmed up. Jumped out of my skin when they started it in the paddock behind me.

Not sure what the point of the post is though?

Nice, proper engine. Even has the right number of cylinders. Ford by the looks of it?

Fuel injected too under that air cleaner I reckon

something very satisfying about the sight of a V8 in an engine bay... anyone else think so?

shame the neatness comment makes the thread a bit sour.

I don't really understand the point of this post either. There are loads of messy cars about - they're built by amateurs who want something nailed together and running, but then there's people like ReMan that take the time to make it tidy.

The engine bay in the OP is hardly exemplary of a tidy bay. It's tidy enough but it's not ammo to go starting fights with.

FWIW, here's mine

Covers is cheating....

SWMBO's TT bay looks immaculate.....until you take the covers off.

That's not a good example of a tidy engine bay, it's functional, and neat, but the chassis hides a lot of the stuff, there's still cable ties everywhere.

The vw boys are masters of tidy engine bays, you wouldn't think the cars could run anymore:

I think the yellow Bec posted earlier is neater than the op pic

If you want to see the benchmark of a nice engine bay, have a look in Fozzie's archive . . . . . . .and weep.

True dat!

I remember when we first saw her car at a show. Jasper said to me: "makes you just want to give up, doesn't it!"

I was very lucky that she and DLT helped me a lot (well, did it for me, to be fair) with the back panel of the car. Turned what would have been a mess of dented metal into a proper job!

Cheers,
James

Troll ahoy!

You couldn't pwn your way out of a wet paper bag, with "PWN ME!!" written on it, from the "pwned take-away" which originally contained one portion of chicken tikka pwnsala and the obligatory free pwnpadom.

I think it all depends whether you require function, form or both.

It's nice to see a tidy engine bay but I'd rather know that everything worked and had durability rather than looking pretty.

Does the OP have something against bike engines in cars as there are plenty of scruffy car engines in cars.

As I said, it really is down to what is most important to you.

Don't know about everyone else, but I can't actually see my engine bay when I'm driving.

I've tried sitting with the bonnet off looking at the engine but it doesn't seem as much fun to me. Am I doing something wrong?

Here's my BEC engine bay.

I'm happy with it, it will get better in the course of time. Suggesting a V8 bay is proper is a bit anal, we are all different.

Like a V8 like a BEC , his bay looks nothing special.

Happy Christmas.

Not all BEC's are a mess.....

But I'd love a V8
