1" 12swg steel needed anyone know who sells (not online)

So I'm struggling to get some more steel or my wishbones. I need 1" 12swg about 2 meters

Anyone got any.

Thanks

Have a look in Yellow pages for a local Hydraulic company, they use CDS tube, its what I did and got 2M of 25mm for a tenner. HTH Ray

I was going to use Hydraulic tube but was advised by various people on here that it's a soft grade suitable for bending and what you need is a mechanical grade.

Not sure if that's actually correct but I played safe and went to a merchant (unfortunately they're down in Devon).

John.

Proper hydraulic tube is tempered to bend easily, you don't have to have CDS for wishbones ERW is strong enough for the job, Metals4U have it in stock although I have always found it at a local stockist easily enough or they have ordered it in for me. Better Metals in Alfreton or Twiggs in Matlock are my nearest.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I agree with Peteff, but make sure you orient the seams correctly.

Metals4u also have it in CDS if you want to spend the extra

I just looked at that metals4u website, I can't believe how expensive they are. An 8x4 3mm sheet is £125.00, I can buy 3 sheets for that.
