re using megajolt??

Hi guys and gals, a bit of a techy question please...

I'm going to be swapping my Pinto for a V8 come this winter and have had a
bit of a thought.
The Pinto is running Megajolt (latest system) and I was wondering if its feasible to
re use this on the V8? Obviously I will need another coilpack but is it possible to get
the ECU re chipped to a 8 cylinder?

Cheers,

Nick.

yep, have a look at the autosportlabs website, i think you actually use 2 of the 4 cylinder coil packs, and an edis8, and use the megajolt configurator to set the cylinder number to 8
on the main 'tuning' page, click the 'options' tab, and select the number of cylinders

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Autosportlabs say it can be done - need EDIS8 and 2 coilpacks

Getting hold of an EDIS8 will likely be the most difficult problem, I don't think anything was fitted with them in the UK. You sometimes see them up for sale on Megasquirt or Megajolt Used EDIS8 EDIS 8 Unit & Plug with Pig Tail | eBay or you could buy one from the US.

Is it not possible to use TWO EDIS4 units, each one running from two spark outputs on the MJ? Each EDIS4 can run its own 4 cylinder coilpack.

Just a thought.

No. The EDIS gets it's engine position information from the VR sensor, connecting two of them to the same sensor would either provide two sparks at exactly the same time or quite likely wouldn't work at all.

I suppose you could fit two VR sensors, one mounted 180 degrees from the other. However, you would have to get the mounting exactly right and since the MJ can only accept one PIP input (the PIP output from one of the EDIS units would have to be ignored) and has only one SAW output (that would have to go to both EDIS units) there may be problems with synchronisation.
