Yes. Just need advise on what will be in the survey and if its going to point out whats wrong and how to fix it.

Unless you specifically ask for an actual survey, you may actually be getting no more than a valuation.

You need to be very specific about this.

The clue is in the fee being charged.

A valuation type survey will be cheap (ish)..... A full land/geological/topo survey looking for underground streams/drainage etc will cost a LOT

As the place is under 10 years old we went for the basic report (not the home buyers report).

I think the major report was over £1000

i used to work for a co that did this sort of stuff.
water can be a killer on houses,you need to find the geoligy of the area and where the water mains run.
you could try water devining,it does work,that would give you a clue as to an underground stream.
personally,i would walk away
