One lucky kid
Well chaps spent friday night/ saturday morning in hospital with my son.
he turned 16 last sunday and passed his CBT on monday. the scooter he rides is a 50cc job and he needs it for work as he is a full time chef at a
really good resturant locally and his hours are 8am to 11pm.
his ride home is on the country lanes of leafy suffolk as he has been told to avoid the A12 as it is too dangerouse. there is one lane that is just
wide enough for one car but id cuts 3 minutes off his ride, i have told him to avoid it at night and use the bigger lanes but on friday he used this
lane.
he was riding along and a car came up behind him, the next thing he knew was the car was pushing him along and he came off his bike into a field
entrance and the car just drove off the boy has a dislocated shoulder...
he called me in tears and then the police and ambulance. i got there first and we did the best to comfort him then the paramedics, 3 police cars and
an ambulance then another police car.
the police hold out no hope of catching anyone as all he knows is it was a black car. the bike is ok and i had to ride it home. the boy has his arm in
a sling, but went to the olympic football yesterday and to work today and has no intention of taking time off for his injuries (wish more people
were like him).
he now apreaciates what he has to pay tax for and is impressed how they found him using his mobile phone signal.
i would like to thank the emergency services for their help. i would also like to hang the scrot who deliberatly pushed him out of the way.

Feel for ya Ditch, there are some right tossers around, that one deserves 5 years for that, or more as its tantamount to attempted murder in my
book.
I've ridden bikes, driven cars, buses and trucks and the amount of driving with due care, or, consideration for other road users these days is
way too high.
Glad the lads OK and hope it doesnt put him off riding as its a very pleasant cheap way into motoring whatever your age.

the only reason he is not riding today is his right arm cannot reach the throttle. he is talking about a 125cc next year so he can use the A12 duel
carrage way to get home.
he has also vowed not to use that lane again and stick to the wide lanes where cars can pass him safely.
thanks for the support, i just hope that the scrot does not kill someone.

It shouldn't be necessary, but a helmet cam (or two) would be a good idea.

when he got into work this morning his chef went round the staff to make sure it was not one of them who had done it, he was very upset. i will have
to thank him next time i see him.
the lad did 125 covers (diners) today and the head chef has rearanged his shifts to slower days to give him some time to recover.
well thats all three boys who have had accidents on there scooters, the oldest was riding his 50cc on the A12 when a woman in an escort drove over him
and snapped his scooter in half, the boy only had bruses. the middle one had a bloke pull out infront of him on a rainy day and the lad fell off and
his scooter badly dented the car. the drver stopped saw he was getting up and then drove off. the lad had burned a hole in his under ware. since hen
he has had a number of falls but is a dedicated biker now.
lets just hope they all stay safe from here on in.
unfortunatley the way the insurance is going the only form of transport they can afford are small bike and scooters.
one day i hope the scrot wakes up and realises what he has done and it haunts him, i hope it is not when one of his kids has been killed by a bad
driver.

I got a scooter about a year ago at the grand age of 47 to drive round central London, there I never seem to have any near misses, but get to the
outskirts and I have peole trying to push me along or pull out on me...Suspect those in the centre drive for a living in busy traffic and the local
tossers just poddle about in their own little world.
I never get involved in road rage incidents in a car, but twice now I've ended up stopping in the middle of the road, bike on stand and walk
back to "educate" whoever just tried to take me out. I suspect they think I'm the local pizza delivery boy, they get a bit of a
shock when I bounce up to them!
I would also say that 50cc are a bit too slow in my eyes and tend to be being overtaken by faster moving cars in most situations. At least with a 125
you are easily able to make your own space on the road without fear of holding people up.
Hope he get better soon, sounds like he has true "Bulldog" spirit!
A12 has got to be one of the worst roads in the UK..

A12 dont go there, i commute it every day, 50 miles each way and its by far the worst road i have ever driven on. every monday morning i wake up and
ask myself why.
all the boys have that bulldog spirit, but the youngest has dislexia and he as a drive well beyond the other two, almost obsession, expecially when it
comes to cooking, earning money and sport. he wants his own mitchellin star and be the next jamie oliver.

i rode the scooter home and at 27mph i thought i was doing 60, got home and asked the eldest boy (who had followed) how fast i was going and he said
15 to 25 max  i thought it was much faster.

I spent just over a year on an ar50, great little thing but people do treat you like p00 
Fell off quite a few times, mostly my fault/inexperience.
I make a point of giving 'peds loads of room these days - mostly it's just kids with little experience. Getting a 50 when I was 16 gave me
freedom I never had before, enabled me to get about and get a proper job. I wish we had a more european culture when it comes to peds (I guess
it's a bit wet...)
Sounds like your lad is a tough 'un - fair play to him. Chin up, keep on riding and working hard. Bigger bikes and good times will come to you -
they did for me!

Rest the shoulder but use it otherwise it can be ages to get movement back ive done mine 15 times now and in line for a op i never rest it when racing
bikes and crashing ive popped it back in myself and raced on it later in the day.
The trouble with dislocating it when your young is it makes it easy to repeat dislocate as it grinds the surface of the bone cartlidge which doesnt
repair which makes it in most cases a easy path to come out, and if you do it when your 40+ it may only happen once as the cartlidge hardens up

Glad the lad's OK ditch. Let's hope the Scrote who ran him off the road ends up in a ditch! D-heads like that don't deserve the
oxygen they use

I spent almost a year commuting to my job in Shenfield (just north of London) - 40-odd miles each way. Not good.
The road's in poor condition, badly laid out, and carrying far too much traffic. When I used to join it coming home I'd be lucky to be
doing more than 30mph for 10 miles or so, until I was well clear of Chelmsford. One minor accident or breakdown and the queues go on for miles. In
the rush hour it's also full of idiots who think that getting to work on time is more important than staying alive - if it's that
important to them, they should leave home 10 minutes earlier!
I'm glad I've taken early retirement... I only have to go on the A12 out of rush hour, and that's only occasionally - and it's
still grim then...

Glad your boys ok, wonder if they're would be a dark color car the same time next week with a bit of a scrape to the front?

Whoa.. and here is why the scrote should be hung drawn and quartered...
Go's to work Monday to find one of the lads in the warehouse got knocked off his push bike at the weekend, he's now lying in hospital with
a broken back and paralysed from the waist down...

and to think that that f-in arse responsible MIGHT have a child themselves
i'm really glad he's ok and hope the wanker/wankeress gets caught
they have to be made to recognise that someone potentially might have to deliver a death message to some parents
(i used to be a policeman and was with my mentor when we had to do exactly that and it practically made me nearly vomet with pain at the
family's loss)
Anyhow, he's battered, bruised, sore and bleedin marvelous for going straight back to work.
Great kid! all the best for his speedy recovery
Time for a change!

Well its Tuesday and mum and dads taxi service is back in operation, at least his mates at work are bringing him home which is good of them.
Coozer I’m sorry to hear about you colleague, there must have been more than one drunk idiot out on the roads this weekend. I so glad that Lou’s
injuries are minor compared to his and he will recover fully. I sincerely hope that they caught the driver of the car who caused such severe and life
changing injuries. I really do believe in an eye for an eye and a broken back for a broken back.
David I look at the next 20 years to retirement and fear what the A12 will have become by then, its bad now and gets worse each year. I will soon have
to leave at 5am to avoid the traffic. Shenfield slows right up after 8am when the wags are dropping their sprogs off in their range rovers, X5’s
porche caynes. I already give 1 ½ hours a day extra to my employer free, so that I have a journey under 1 ½ hours, and the A12 has aready given one of
my mates a nervous breakdown. I fear for my sanity and fully expect to have a heart attack on that road.
richardh i'm afraid there is not hope of catching them as Lou only knows it was a big black car. but he now knows to heed the advice of his
elders and stay on the larger roads to aviod this problem again.
thanks for all the support and kind words it is heart warming. Cheffies offer of letting him look as a good kitchen nearly had him on the scooter
heading for oxford until he realised he could not reach the throttle yet
